headshot image of Chris LowneyThe Tenth Annual Servant Leadership Day will be held on Thursday, April 21, and is a celebration of Seton Hall University's commitment to forming students as "servant leaders in a global society." Sponsored by the Center for Vocation and Servant Leadership, and the Office of Mission & Ministry, it is made possible by the generous benefaction of Colleen and Hank D'Alessandro, Regent. Its purpose is to provide inspiration to the Center's Servant Leader Scholars and to all the University constituencies dedicated to the principles and practice of "servant leadership."

To celebrate this event, all members of the Seton Hall community are invited to a talk given by Chris Lowney, on Thursday, April 21, from 4 to 5 p.m., in the Beck Rooms. His topic is "From Darwin to Discernment: How Servant Leaders Make Quality Decisions at Seton Hall."

The Tenth Annual Servant Leadership Day will be held on Thursday, April 21, and is a celebration of Seton Hall University's commitment to forming students as "servant leaders in a global society."

Chris Lowney's interactive talk will explore the leadership implications of the chaotic, volatile, and uncertain world in which we must all now live and work. In particular, Chris will urge a "new culture of leadership," where we each embrace our leadership opportunity, sharpen our individual and team decision-making skills, and become more reflective. This "new culture of leadership" will make Seton Hall into a model of servant leadership in action. To make his case, Chris will draw on an idiosyncratic stew of sources including Seton Hall's founder, McKinsey and Co, Robert Greenleaf, Mike Tyson, Pope Francis, and Chris's own experience in investment banking and healthcare.

Chris Lowney vice chairs the board of CommonSpirit Health, America's largest Catholic healthcare system with $29 Billion in revenues and more than 150,000 employees. He is a one-time Jesuit seminarian and later served as a Managing Director of J.P. Morgan & Co in Tokyo, Singapore, London, and New York.

He has authored six books, including the bestselling Heroic Leadership, which has been translated into eleven languages and was named to the recommended reading list of the Commandant of the United States Marine Corps. He won a 2018 Catholic Press Association award for Everyone Leads: How to Revitalize the Catholic Church. His latest work is Make Today Matter: 10 Habits for a Better Life (and World), which won a 2018 Independent Press Award as a "Distinguished Favorite." Chris regularly contributes to Forbes.com on leadership and leadership strategy.
