Hallmarks
As one of the country's leading Catholic universities, Seton Hall has been developing students in mind, heart and spirit since 1856. Home to over 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students, Seton Hall is a place that nurtures compassionate leaders who are prepared to find their purpose and make a difference in the world.
A Triumphant Spirit
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton was a trailblazer and independent thinker who never stopped
advocating for the
underserved. She laid the cornerstone for Catholic education in America and, yes,
became the first American-born saint. Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley, her nephew, founded
our school in her name, and here, you’ll live by the Seton family motto: Hazard Zet
