Seton Hall Esports Advances to Playoffs After Strong Spring Season

Esports labWith the Spring 2026 BIG EAST esports regular season complete, Seton Hall Esports enters the postseason in a strong position across its major titles. League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and VALORANT all finished the regular season ranked within the top four of their respective standings, placing the Pirates among the conference’s most competitive programs heading into the BIG EAST playoffs.

Leading the way this spring is Seton Hall’s Rocket League varsity team, which delivered one of the most dominant seasons in program history. The Pirates finished the regular season undefeated at 7–0, controlling conference play through disciplined rotations, mechanical consistency and strong team chemistry. Seton Hall secured decisive victories over conference rivals including UConn, Creighton, Butler, Villanova and Marquette. Even more impressive, the roster is composed entirely of first-year students, highlighting both the squad’s natural talent and rapid development at the collegiate level. After not fielding a roster last year, Rocket League now enters the postseason looking to return Seton Hall to the top of the BIG EAST standings. Seton Hall’s Rocket League will open their playoff run against Creighton on Tuesday, March 17 at 7 p.m.

The League of Legends varsity team also delivered an impressive campaign, finishing the regular season 5–2 and securing second place in the standings. The Pirates demonstrated consistency throughout the semester with wins over Villanova, Butler, Marquette and UConn. Their only setbacks came in a tightly contested series against St. John’s and a match forfeiture. With a strong seed entering the playoffs, Seton Hall’s League of Legends team will face off against Villanova on Saturday, March 14 at 3 p.m.

Overwatch has been another area of success this spring. The Pirates finished the regular season with a 4–2 record and secured the fourth seed, tied in record with both St. John’s and UConn for the second and third positions. Throughout the season the team displayed strong coordination, efficient ultimate management and consistent map control. Several dominant 3–0 victories and a key win over UConn helped establish Seton Hall as one of the conference’s most reliable teams heading into postseason play. In the BIG EAST playoffs, Seton Hall’s Overwatch team will face undefeated DePaul on Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Seton Hall finished the regular season 3–3 and fourth in the standings in a tightly contested league. The Pirates recorded important wins over Marquette, Creighton and UConn while continuing to develop experience against the conference’s top competitors. Several close matches demonstrated the team’s growth and resilience throughout the semester, positioning the roster well for the team’s first postseason match against DePaul on Friday, March 13 at 7 p.m.

VALORANT, competing in its first season as a Seton Hall varsity title, navigated one of the most competitive leagues of the spring. The Pirates finished the regular season 3–3 and earned the fourth seed heading into playoffs. Wins over Marquette and Butler highlighted the team’s tactical coordination, while narrow losses to UConn and St. John’s underscored the highly competitive nature of the league. In its inaugural season, the program has already demonstrated strong potential and resilience against experienced conference opponents. Seton Hall will face undefeated St. John’s in the opening round of the BIG EAST playoffs on March 14 at 3 p.m.

Across all five titles, Seton Hall Esports showed remarkable growth and competitive strength during the Spring 2026 semester. Seton Hall is the only BIG EAST program with every team ranked in the top four entering postseason play. After one of the most successful seasons in program history, highlighted by a dominant Rocket League run powered by first-year talent and a promising inaugural VALORANT campaign, the Pirates enter the BIG EAST playoffs ready to compete for conference championships.
