As a new or returning student, you may be stressing over beginning classes. Caring for your mental health is important for academic success and remaining physically active during the school year can have tremendous benefits. Studies have found that students who exercise regularly (3 days a week) on average earn a full GPA point higher than students who do not.

Benefits of remaining physically active include:

Seton Hall Recreational Services offer many resources and activities for students to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle while socializing and meeting new friends ranging from gym equipment and fitness classes to competitive intramural and club sports.

The Richie Regan Recreation and Athletic Center is 12,000 square feet in total size, spanning two floors and offering students a myriad of state-of-the-art exercise options. The facility boasts a set of cardio stations, two dance studios, free and circuit weight training options as well as men's and women's locker rooms with direct access to the Arthur E. Imperatore Natatorium.

The Richard and Sheila Regan Fieldhouse features a multi-use Mondo Multi Sport surface which contains six basketball courts, and a Mondo Track which is an eighth-mile in length.

The large space proves versatile enough to handle a variety of athletic pursuits. Several varsity sports use the fieldhouse for practice, and it is also home to many of the intramural programs offered by the department including basketball, indoor soccer and volleyball.

All full-time undergraduate and graduate students have free access to the Recreation Center.

There are also fitness classes which are taught by students. Classes may include spin, Zumba, yoga, and/or strength and conditioning classes. Normally there are one or two classes daily. Follow @setonhall_rec on Instagram for updated schedules.

There are also open recreation options which include basketball, volleyball, soccer, and corn hole.

Intramural Flag Football

For students looking to show their competitive edge, Athletics and Recreation offers intramural and club sports.

Senior Associate Athletics Director for Recreational Services Kathy Matta says that, "intramural sports are a great way to get involved, make friends, and get a workout! Designed for students of all skill levels who just like to play sports, intramurals allow students to experience structured team and individual competition at any level. Offerings include flag football, volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer, 5K races, and dodgeball. Registration deadlines are posted throughout campus and within the Regan Center and handled through the IM Leagues app. This innovative process allows students easy access to roster, schedules, and rules seamlessly."

Intramural sports for the fall semester include Flag Football and Volleyball. Registrations are now open through the IM Leagues app.

Club sports give the campus community an opportunity to learn a new sport, meet peers with the same interests, and maintain a competitive outlet. Teams practice regularly and compete against area college teams. Club sports offer no athletic scholarships and players must maintain eligibility through established University and league requirements. Each club has a specified try-out period as rosters have limits imposed by affiliations.

  • Women's Club Soccer
  • Men's Club Volleyball
  • Women's Club Volleyball
  • Men's Rugby
  • Men's Ice Hockey

The intramural and recreational programs are primarily staffed by students. Recreational Services aims to identify and employ responsible and eager students to help run successful programs.
