Heart of the University, Faculty Retreat Series 2024-2025

Father Gerald BuonopaneThe Heart of the University Retreat Series gives faculty and administrators of all faiths the opportunity for input and guided reflection. The series is co-sponsored by the Office of Mission and Ministry, and the Center for Vocation and Servant Leadership.

The first retreat, given by Reverend Gerald Buonopane, Ph.D., on the theme of Mission Integration and Human Nature: Embracing Redemption in Catholic Education, will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 9-11 a.m. in the Beck Rooms and via Microsoft Teams.

By our human nature we are hearers of God’s word and as such we become aware of our need for redemption. Regardless of their personal beliefs, Seton Hall educators are most successful when they live and work within the context of the University’s Catholic mission. This retreat will: 1) deepen our spiritual awareness of what it means to be a faculty member at Seton Hall and 2) emphasize the call to mission integration. All members of the Seton Hall University community can be companions on the journey to educate the whole person, “mind, heart, and spirit.”

Reverend Gerald Buonopane is the Vice Provost for Academics and Catholic Identity, and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He served as the Minister to the Priest Community from 2020 to 2024. Father Buonopane is a GEM Fellow and a participant in the Praxis Program.
