the award-winning biography Elizabeth Seton: American Saint, will bring the perspective of Mother Seton to the conversation.
- Dermot Quinn, D.Phil., a historian at Seton Hall University, will offer insights into the thought and influence of G.K. Chesterton.
Moderator
- Patrick Manning, Ph.D., associate professor of pastoral theology and director of the Center for Catholic
Studies at Seton Hall, will moderate the discussion.
Seton and Chesterton on Education
Pat Manning on Elizabeth Ann Seton:
Besides being a saint, Elizabeth Seton was a mother trying to balance work responsibilities and an educator who had to operate a school during a time of widespread illness and political turmoil. Her story and example could not be more relevant for the work of our university community today.
Dermot Quinn on G.K. Chesterton:
Education is only the truth in a state of transition. And how can we pass on the truth if it has never come into our hands?
There will also be a book signing with Catherine O’Donnell immediately before this program for those interested in meeting the author.
