CIA Operative on his Clandestine Work in the Former Soviet Union

Scott Uehlinger, born on Long Island, NY, is a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy. Having joined the US Navy upon graduation, he served on destroyers as part of NATO forces in the final days of the Cold War, afterwards sailing in the merchant marine worldwide. Uehlinger joined the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in 1996 and then spent more than a decade serving abroad at US embassies located in the former Soviet Union. A fluent Russian speaker, he has extensive experience working against the Russian HUMINT (human intelligence) targets, as well as on issues related to Iran, Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation. His most noteworthy and exciting tour was as CIA Station Chief in Chisinau, Moldova in 2008-2012. He returned to the United States in 2012 and retired from the service in 2014.
