Seton Hall Launches New 'Survey Squad' to Strengthen Student Voice and Feedback Culture

professor and student workingThe Division of Student Services is excited to launch Survey Squad, a new innovative initiative designed to elevate student feedback and strengthen the University’s ability to understand and respond to the needs of its campus community. This initiative was made possible through Idea Hall funded by the Office of Provost and Office of the President. Survey Squad was created by Andrew Minegar, assistant vice president of Student Services Operations and Nicole LaCapria, Ph.D., assistant director of Assessment and Special Projects in collaboration with Winston Roberts, assistant vice president of Student Services and dean of Student Engagement.

Surveys remain one of the most valuable tools for assessing the quality and impact of student programs and services, yet many institutions, including Seton Hall, often face low response rates that make it difficult to gather representative data (NSSE Essentials, 2025). The Survey Squad aims to close this gap by bringing students directly into the assessment process as paid leaders and ambassadors for student voice.

Members of the Survey Squad will work closely with Student Services to create surveys that are clear, relevant and student-centered. They will also design peer-to-peer outreach strategies, social media promotions and event-based engagement efforts that make survey participation easier and more appealing for the student body. By tapping into authentic student insight and influence, the initiative aims to reach more students, gather stronger data and ensure that student voices play a central role in shaping programs and services.

This initiative allows students to lead the charge in strengthening feedback on campus. Not only will the Survey Squad help the University make better, data-informed decisions, but it also gives students valuable leadership, communication and assessment experience they can carry into their future careers.

The Survey Squad goals are to elevate student feedback practices, increase student engagement in assessment efforts and reinforce a culture of continuous improvement guided by student insight.

Students from all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to apply, especially those who enjoy communication, social media, student outreach or simply care about enhancing student and campus life at Seton Hall. We also encourage faculty and staff to spread the word to students in their classes, offices and networks to help build a diverse and energetic team.

Student Services believes that this initiative will not only strengthen data collection but also reinforce the message that students’ voices matter and that they play an active role in shaping their own campus experience.
