Thursday, June 13, 2024
Seton Hall University has introduced the Idea Hall, an initiative aimed at facilitating innovation through collaboration among the various divisions at the University. Led by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the President, this program supports various projects designed to enhance academic success, student engagement, and community integration.
Each selected project received funding ranging from $5,000 to $30,000, allocated over one to three years. This financial support is intended to help project leaders implement their ideas effectively and achieve measurable outcomes.
Interim President Katia Passerini, Ph.D., emphasized the University's commitment to nurturing innovative thinking and collaborative efforts. "Idea Hall is a testament to Seton Hall's dedication to creating an environment where ideas can flourish and have a tangible impact on our community," she stated.
This year’s Idea Hall awardees were invited to present on their projects on May 23, during the Innovative Ideas Networking Brunch, along with the new round of Academies, an initiative aiming to facilitate faculty collaboration across departments and colleges at Seton Hall.
Winston Roberts presented on the collaboration between Student Services, Athletics, and Information Technology on organizing watch parties on-campus for major sporting events. He cited the positive relationship between student engagement and performance in the classroom.
Jamilah Savage and Andrew Misura presented on the Newark Cultural and Career Integration Initiative (NCCII) which aims to connect Seton Hall students in a meaningful fashion with the Newark community through cultural and professional opportunities. The program also focuses on housing workshops for both the local community and meeting the needs for Seton Hall students in need of housing in alignment with the University’s Catholic mission.
