Supporting Our Community
Often, we may feel unsure how best to support students in distress or those experiencing a mental health crisis. The below resources are intended to help each of us build a community of care by identifying, responding to, and linking students in distress to available resources. Please also consult with CAPS, as needed, to support our students.
The Seton Hall Suicide Prevention site provides suicide prevention education, guidance, and resources for the Seton Hall community, including students, faculty/staff, and parents.
Students who are interested in engaging with peers to remove stigma surrounding mental health can join the SHU chapter of the national organization Active Minds. Active Minds at Seton Hall University was established for the expressed purpose of increasing the awareness of the students, faculty, and staff at SHU about issues surrounding mental health, symptoms related to mental health disorders, and mental health resources available both on campus and in the surrounding community. Active Minds works to remove the stigma surrounding mental health disorders so that students will feel more comfortable openly discussing mental-health related issues and seeking help when it is needed. To get involved, students can email activemindsclub@shu.edu and connect with Active Minds on Engage.
