Award Amount: $28,000 paid to the Buccino Scholar in amounts of $3,500 each semester from Freshman through Senior Year upon achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.

The Dr. Gerald P. Buccino ‘63 ("Buccino") Scholarship was established in perpetuity in 1996 in the Leadership Studies Program of the Stillman School of Business. With the transition to the University-wide Buccino Leadership Institute, the Buccino Scholarship is now awarded, and continues in perpetuity, to one member of each Buccino Leadership Institute first-year class. The selected Buccino Scholar receives a four-year scholarship and, most importantly, the one-on-one coaching and mentoring from Buccino and the Buccino Scholar Family.

The scholarship is a commitment to current and future Buccino Scholars that funding is secured in perpetuity. Since its inception, more than half of a million dollars has been awarded to past and current scholars. Going forward, scholarship dollars available to future Buccino Scholars will be in the millions of dollars paid.

This Scholarship is testimony to Buccino’s love and passion for student leadership growth and development, it is an opportunity to give back and serve; share his learnings to help people who need, value, take advantage of and benefit from a rich coaching and mentoring relationship to achieve their greatest potential and be highly successful in their professional and personal lives.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Buccino Leadership Institute first-year student in good standing

  2. A cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher per semester for four years to maintain eligibility

  3. Selections are based on:
    • Leadership Instructors’ assessment of student’s active engagement in and contributions to the Leadership Institute and the University beyond their academic requirements
    • Evaluation characteristics of the student’s:
      •  Integrity and Trust
      • Respect for Others
      • Accountability and Responsibility
      •  Passion, Enthusiasm and Drive
      • Learning Mindset
      • Communication
      • Servant Leadership

Renewal Procedures

Renewable, contingent upon Scholars maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher, role modeling the Institute’s principles and values, and representing the Buccino Scholars’ passion for professional and personal excellence in their growth and development while helping others discover and realize their own. For the Buccino Scholar, good is not good enough, great is not great enough, there is always something more. As Buccino says, “When you leave, you want to leave a pile of ashes that will remind people that you once burned a magnificent fire.”
