Business and health care executive who transitioned to academic leadership, teaching, and research.
Dr. Jeff Ritter has over 25 years of health care management experience in consulting, strategy, hospital administration, managed care, and start-up companies. His positions included Director of Training for United Healthcare and Assistant Vice President of Government Programs and Cigna. His general business experience includes roles as a marketing manager, marketing director, and entrepreneur. He was also part of a team that helped create and establish Silver Sneakers and MDVIP, two health care start-ups that are recognized nationally. He was also involved in an International Project in Eastern Europe looking at health care reform and the transition to a U.S. based health care system.
Born and raised in the Bronx, Jeff attended Baruch College, Long Island University, and Nova Southeastern University, where he earned his BBA, MBA, and DBA respectively. In high school and college, Jeff played baseball in college and continues to play softball as well as being an avid tennis player.
Academic Distinctions and Scholarship: In addition, Jeff has over 15 years of academic experience in teaching, course design, accreditation, assessment, research, and leadership. He has attended conferences nationally and internationally, helped develop an MHA program, and has been involved with a number of organizations including the AUPHA and ACHE. He has extensive teaching experience both on ground and online and has been recognized as a SUNY Ambassador, displaying exemplary online teaching and has earned certificates in Quality Matters.
