Study Abroad Faculty Learning Community

The Office of International Program (OIP) invites faculty, who are full-time employees of Seton Hall and are interested in proposing new Faculty Led Study Abroad Programs (FLPs) for Spring, Winter and Summer 2024, to enter their submissions through the online approval process. New proposals will be accepted through Monday, May 1, 2023 for new FLPs that have never run as a study abroad program or past FLPs that have not been approved through the online approval process introduced in 2021.

Explore the New Faculty Programs hub which has tons of resources for faculty crafting a new study abroad experience for their students. That site also details the process, structure and policies related to study abroad proposals.

Faculty Study Abroad Workshops: To accompany the submission window for new FLPs, OIP in collaboration with the Center for Faculty Development invites faculty who are interesting in proposing new programs to join the optional Study Abroad Faculty Learning Community, which meets monthly for 5 virtual workshops from December through May on Fridays. Below is the workshop schedule and associated topics.

  • December: Study Abroad Fundamentals
  • February: Building Your Itinerary
  • March: Study Abroad Budgeting
  • April: Globalizing Your Curriculum
  • May: Web and Digital Content

The faculty's Department Chairperson should be notified by the faculty of their intent to join this Learning Community so that they can start working together in developing a new Faculty Led Program. Faculty do not need to join this optional Learning Community in order to submit a New Program Proposal but these sessions can be helpful in providing resources as a new study abroad idea gets shaped.

For questions on the study abroad proposal process and the Study Abroad Faculty Learning Community, please email studyabroad@shu.edu and OIP will be happy to help you!
