Katie McCarthy has been appointed Interim Vice President of Enrollment Management, effective October 1, 2025. Katie oversees Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid, Enrollment Services Information Systems, and Enrollment Services Communications and Marketing. She has been a prominent member within Seton Hall University’s Enrollment Management team since 2013 and had previously served in the Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management Operations role since 2021. Her strategic initiatives and efforts to streamline operations have been key in enhancing enrollment, supporting a diverse student body, and ensuring overall efficiency and effectiveness. Katie is also co-leading the Banner SaaS migration, a shift to a cloud-based platform aimed at enhancing efficiency across both academic and administrative operations. She is an active participant in the Enrollment Management community and has collaborated on various IT initiatives including the implementation of Technolutions Slate for Admissions. In 2019, Katie was selected for the College Board’s Enrollment Leadership Academy, a program designed to develop the next generation of leaders in enrollment management. She holds a B.A. in English Literature with a minor in Journalism from the University of Delaware, an M.B.A. from Seton Hall University (2017), and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Higher Education at Seton Hall.

Alyssa McCloud currently serves as the senior enrollment strategist assisting with high level strategic planning and enrollment management as well as financial aid leveraging and award management. Prior to this she served as the vice president for enrollment management at Seton Hall from 2011 - 2025, during which time she was promoted to senior vice president and then executive vice president for enrollment management.

During Dr. McCloud’s tenure she led Seton Hall to tremendous enrollment success, resulting in a 20% increase in undergraduate enrollment and several of the largest incoming classes in university history. Simultaneously, the University has raised its SAT average over 100 points while continuing to attract a diverse student body that is nearly 45% students of color, 35% Pell eligible and 35% first-generation.

Dr. McCloud is an active member of the enrollment management community has served on the College Board's Admissions Advisory Board, has provided executive management training for University CFOs through the NACUBO leadership program as well as future Enrollment leaders as part of the College Board’s Leadership Academy. She created the model financial aid shopping sheet that was adopted state-wide by the state of New Jersey and was praised for creating a transparent financial aid experience for students. She has presented at numerous conferences, plus written articles relating to college admission that have been featured in the Huffington Post and Private Colleges and Universities Magazine. She has been featured in many media outlets, appearing on Fox Business, Good Day New York and with citation in the Star Ledger, Wall Street Journal and New York Times.

Dr. McCloud previously served as vice president for enrollment at Drew University and Felician College. Prior to these positions, she served as director of the office of admissions and international programs at Seton Hall. Prior to this she worked for Webster University in Bangkok Thailand assisting to open the first American University in Thailand and at the Council on International Educational Exchange in New York and Bangkok, Thailand.

She holds a B.A. in humanities with a concentration in philosophy from Antioch College, as well as two graduate degrees from Seton Hall, an M.A.in corporate and public communications (2004) and a Ph.D. in higher educational leadership, management and policy (2009).

Derek Martinez is a two-time alumnus of Seton Hall University, earning his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2012 and master’s in strategic communication in 2017. He began his professional career at Seton Hall as an admissions counselor, before moving to enrollment services communications from 2017 to 2025, where he oversaw all outreach efforts of the university to prospective and incoming undergraduate students. Since October 2025, Derek has served as the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management, where he continues to manage the offices of enrollment services communications as well as admissions events.

In his time as a member of the Enrollment Services leadership team, he has been a key contributor to projects such as the implementation of Slate, creation of personalized video content to elevate Seton Hall’s status among its peers, collaboration with campus programs and departments to assist in their recruitment efforts, creation of peer-networking platforms for prospective students, and digitization of Seton Hall’s financial aid award notifications. He has created the foundation for which all of Seton Hall’s virtual recruitment events are held and continues to find new ways to enhance Seton Hall’s recruitment strategies in a digital age.

Derek has been interviewed and featured in higher education articles from publications such as NJ.com, the Star Ledger, New Jersey Business Magazine, and The College Tour. He has represented Seton Hall at the Slate Summit conference, where he has been asked to facilitate round-table discussions for enrollment leaders for three years in a row. In 2022, he was recognized for ten years of professional service at the University’s annual Employee Service Awards ceremony. He was also selected as a member of the 2023 cohort for the Employee Professional Development Program, which recognizes emerging leaders across campus and seeks to broaden their understanding of Seton Hall University and the higher education industry.

Derek comes from a proud line of Seton Hall Pirates. Eight degrees, earned by a total of five alumni, have been awarded to his immediate family. He has been a member of the Seton Hall community since 2008, where he was first exposed to the education field as a student ambassador and tour guide. Derek continues to proudly serve his Alma Mater, where he one day hopes to have his son continue their family’s Pirate heritage as a member of the Class of 2041.

Javonda Asante is the senior director of financial aid at Seton Hall, bringing over three decades of experience in the field. With an M.B.A. in human resource management and prior employment at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Drew University and the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority, she is dedicated to enhancing access to a college education. As a leader in higher education, her role encompasses a blend of strategic vision, collaboration and advocacy. She prioritizes fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for students and staff, ensuring that financial aid resources are accessible and effectively communicated.

As an active member of the New Jersey Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NJASFAA), Javonda currently chairs the Membership Committee as part of the Executive Council. Ultimately, her goal is to empower individuals through education, making a meaningful impact on their lives and futures. Outside of her professional life, she is married and a proud mother of four children. In her personal time, she enjoys reading and listening to music.

Asim Rehman is director of academic and student information systems and joined University in 2006. He served on the Enrollment Services IT team before being promoted to his current position in 2013. Asim provides leadership and direct supervision to a team of individuals who manage the Student Information System (Banner) and integrated software products from third party vendors. He supports and enables the proactive leveraging and development of technology to create automated and streamlined processes, reports and data analysis to support University operations.

Asim was part of SIS to Banner implementation and later contributed to both the Banner 8 and Banner 9 implementations. He played a key role in reporting migration from Oracle Reports to Cognos and helped financial aid office move daily manual processing to robust automated processing. Asim has good experience working with technology in higher education and worked at Montclair University before joining Seton Hall. He holds B.S. in computer information systems from Richard Stockton College and master’s degree in computer science from Montclair University.

Joseph Puleo has been a dedicated member of the Seton Hall University community since 2016, when he began his career in higher education as an Assistant Director of Admissions. A proud alumnus of Seton Hall, Joseph holds a B.A. in Political Science and brings both his passion for Seton Hall and his professional expertise to his work in enrollment management.

In 2021, he took on the role of Sr. Assistant Director of Admissions, where he oversaw a team of five admissions counselors and 60 student workers. Subsequently, he was promoted to Associate Director in January of 2024. During his time in these roles, he played a key part in enhancing the University's on-campus engagement efforts, including the development and implementation of new events specifically designed to attract and support special populations of prospective students—ultimately helping to boost campus visitation.

In his current role as Interim Director of Admissions, he leads the University's recruitment strategy for first-year, transfer, and international students. He manages a high-performing team of admissions professionals, whose recruitment efforts continue to contribute directly to the enrollment of a highly qualified and diverse class of incoming students.

In 2025, he was selected for the College Board’s prestigious Enrollment Leadership Academy, a year-long program focused on leadership development and strategic enrollment management. He remains committed to fostering student success and advancing the mission of Seton Hall University, the institution he is proud to call his alma-mater.
