Derek Martinez is a two-time alumnus of Seton Hall University, earning his bachelor’s
                                    degree in psychology in 2012 and master’s in strategic communication in 2017. He began
                                    his professional career at Seton Hall as an admissions counselor, before moving to
                                    enrollment services communications from 2017 to 2025, where he oversaw all outreach
                                    efforts of the university to prospective and incoming undergraduate students. Since
                                    October 2025, Derek has served as the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management,
                                    where he continues to manage the offices of enrollment services communications as
                                    well as admissions events.
                                 
                                 In his time as a member of the Enrollment Services leadership team, he has been a
                                    key contributor to projects such as the implementation of Slate, creation of personalized
                                    video content to elevate Seton Hall’s status among its peers, collaboration with campus
                                    programs and departments to assist in their recruitment efforts, creation of peer-networking
                                    platforms for prospective students, and digitization of Seton Hall’s financial aid
                                    award notifications. He has created the foundation for which all of Seton Hall’s virtual
                                    recruitment events are held and continues to find new ways to enhance Seton Hall’s
                                    recruitment strategies in a digital age.
                                 
                                 Derek has been interviewed and featured in higher education articles from publications
                                    such as NJ.com, the Star Ledger, New Jersey Business Magazine, and The College Tour. He has represented Seton Hall at the Slate Summit conference,
                                    where he has been asked to facilitate round-table discussions for enrollment leaders
                                    for three years in a row. In 2022, he was recognized for ten years of professional
                                    service at the University’s annual Employee Service Awards ceremony. He was also selected
                                    as a member of the 2023 cohort for the Employee Professional Development Program,
                                    which recognizes emerging leaders across campus and seeks to broaden their understanding
                                    of Seton Hall University and the higher education industry.
                                 
                                 Derek comes from a proud line of Seton Hall Pirates. Eight degrees, earned by a total
                                    of five alumni, have been awarded to his immediate family. He has been a member of
                                    the Seton Hall community since 2008, where he was first exposed to the education field
                                    as a student ambassador and tour guide. Derek continues to proudly serve his Alma
                                    Mater, where he one day hopes to have his son continue their family’s Pirate heritage
                                    as a member of the Class of 2041.
