Chesterton Institute Podcast Explores AI, Ethics and Catholic Leadership

The G.K. Chesterton Institute for Faith and Culture releases 2-new episodes of its podcast “Speaking about Chesterton” on the topic of the upcoming seminar “Ethics and Values in the Era of AI — Perspectives from Education, Finance and Healthcare.”

On October 24, 2026, Seton Hall University and the International Academy of Catholic Leaders will be partnering once again to offer the second seminar on the topic of "Ethics and Values in the Era of AI, guided on Pope Leo XIX’s recent encyclical Magnifica Humanitas." The G.K. Chesterton Institute for Faith and Culture is co-sponsoring the seminar.

The episodes are part of our “5 Questions” short format series conversations with distinguished guests, hosted by Gloria Garafulich-Grabois, director of the Chesterton Institute for Faith and Culture.

About the Episodes

Episode 26: A conversation with Lara Bersano
She is the executive director of the International Academy of Catholic Leaders, an organization that offers a variety of programs designed to train leaders committed to the common good from a Christian perspective. The vision of the academic is to form a new generation of leaders with social responsibilities. Among her impressive trajectory, she has also published a number of books on the topic of Artificial Intelligence.

On October 24, 2026, Seton Hall University and the Academy will be partnering once again to offer our second seminar guided on Pope Leo XIX’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas. Episode 27: A conversation with Jose Lopez
He is a professor of Physics and director of Grants and Research services within Seton Hall’s Office of the Provost in the Academic Affairs Division. He is a highly acclaimed science communicator and has served as science and technology expert in various local, national and international organizations. Among other accolades, in 2012 he was recognized as one of the “Top 20 Biggest Brains in NJ.”

Alongside teaching and other responsibilities, Professor Lopez is a member of Seton Hall University’s Artificial Intelligence Advisory Council. An advisory body that provides strategic guidance on the responsible and mission-aligned use of artificial intelligence at Seton Hall University. Charged by the Provost and the Chief Information Officer, the council supports the thoughtful integration of AI across academic, research and administrative areas in alignment with the University’s Catholic mission and strategic plan, Inspiring Great Minds to Greater Purpose. Artificial Intelligence presents significant opportunities for higher education alongside important ethical and academic considerations. Professor Lopez attended the first edition of Seton Hall University’s seminar on “Ethics and Values in the Era of AI” which was offered in January 2026.

The G.K. Chesterton Institute for Faith and Culture was founded by Father Ian Boyd, CSB (1935-2024), in Saskatoon, Canada. In 1999, the Institute moved to Seton Hall University.
