TLTC to Host Accessibility Workshop Series

Person holding an ipadThe Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center (TLTC) is excited to announce its upcoming Accessibility Workshop Series, taking place from February 24–27, 2025. This series is designed to help faculty and staff create more accessible courses and materials, ensuring all students have the opportunity to engage and succeed.

The workshops will provide an overview of accessibility and inclusive design principles, with a focus on practical strategies for improving the accessibility of course materials in various formats, including Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs and videos. 

Participants will learn how to:

  • Describe the importance of accessible course materials. 
  • Utilize the Canvas and Microsoft Accessibility Checkers to identify course material that is not accessible. 
  • Utilize the Canvas and Microsoft Accessibility Checkers to identify specific elements of course material that are not accessible, and how to improve its accessibility. 
  • Edit existing course material to increase its accessibility.

Earn the Accessibility Champion Badge for Spring 2025

Faculty and staff who attend at least four Accessibility Week workshops and complete the Qualtrics survey at the end of each session will earn the Accessibility Champion Badge for Spring 2025. This recognition highlights participants' dedication to making course materials more accessible and fostering an inclusive educational experience.

Innovate and Educate Podcast: Accessibility Series 

In addition to workshops, TLTC’s Innovate and Educate podcast has launched a three-part series on accessibility practices across the University. Episode 4, available now, explores EdTech tools faculty can use to create accessible content and support student success. The next episode drops on February  27, 2025.

This initiative—combining hands-on workshops with thought-provoking podcast discussions—demonstrates TLTC’s commitment to accessibility and inclusion. Seton Hall faculty and staff are invited to participate in the Accessibility Series to help create a more inclusive learning environment for all students.
