Sports Management and Analytics Club

Sports Management and Analytics Club (SMAC) was created in 2023 to act as a community for sports enthusiasts, aspiring data analysts and future leaders interested in the business side of sports and player performance metrics. The club connects students with professionals, expands their industry knowledge and fosters a strong sports business community on campus.

Organization Activities Include

Stephen A. Smith / ESPN First Take
One of SMAC’s biggest hands-on opportunities came when Stephen A. Smith and ESPN brought First Take to Seton Hall. Rather than simply attending a speaker event, SMAC members could be involved in a major live sports-media production on campus. Students gained exposure to event coordination, content creation, reporting, promotion and live production, making it a strong example of SMAC providing experiential learning opportunities.

Women Beyond the Game
SMAC partnered with The Women’s Network and Seton Hall’s Marketing Club to host Women Beyond the Game, a panel focused on women working throughout the sports and entertainment industry. The event brought professionals with experience across organizations such as Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, Overtime, the PWHL and Prospect HQ to campus. Students were able to hear about their career paths, challenges and experiences in the industry while also having an opportunity to network with the panelists.

Burke Magnus – ESPN President of Content
SMAC also collaborated with the Seton Hall Sports Poll and Stillman School of Business to host ESPN President of Content Burke Magnus. Magnus discussed his career, the changing sports-media landscape, ESPN’s strategy and major developments across the industry. The program included a student Q&A, a Sports Poll podcast interview and a roundtable that also involved legendary ESPN journalist and Seton Hall alumnus Bob Ley. This event demonstrated SMAC’s ability to give students direct access to senior executives and leaders within the sports industry.

Other Events Include

SMAC Down
A sports-themed competition where members competed in games, trivia and challenges, creating a fun and interactive club event.

Watch Parties
SMAC hosted watch parties for major sporting events, giving members a casual setting to watch games and connect with other sports fans.

Professional Speaker Events
SMAC regularly brought sports professionals to campus, including representatives from Madison Square Garden, the New York Jets, the New York Mets, NYCFC, IMG Academy, Athlete Lab, Excel Sports Management and the New Jersey Devils.
