M.S.O.T. Curriculum
The Department of Occupational Therapy offers a dynamic, challenging academic and experiential program designed to prepare students for entry-level practice. In keeping with the Mission of Seton Hall University, we offer a values-centered curriculum focused on the development of compassionate, innovative, evidence-informed leaders who will care for the current and future needs of individuals, communities, and populations.
The curriculum emphasizes collaborative and interprofessional teamwork in traditional and non-traditional practice settings. Our experienced faculty is committed to the delivery of student-centered education using leading-edge technology and resources.
The curriculum design consists of four themes:
- Occupational Science: Foundations of occupation and occupational therapy practice.
- Occupational Justice: Foundations of diverse occupations, occupations as determinants of health, well-being and justice.
- Occupation Centered Practice: Promotion of health outcomes across to clients and groups.
- Professional Identity Formation: Development of attitudes, behaviors and skills expected in graduate school and clinical settings.

The clinical education aspect of the MSOT program is a coordinated effort between Seton Hall University and various clinical sites throughout our area. Dedicated clinical education faculty work with these sites in order to place our students there for fieldwork assignments throughout the year (see Fieldwork sequence in above Course Listing).
Seton Hall is in a prime location that allows exposure to diverse and challenging OT practice settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, public and specialty schools and private practices in the New Jersey and New York metropolitan area, as well as out of state.
