Renowned Professor to Present on Faith and Reason  

Strength of hope; Hands unitingThe Catholic Studies Program and University Core Program proudly present: 
"Strength of Hope: On the Practice of Philosophy in Fides et ratio". The event will occur on Thursday, February 14, at 3 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge, University Center.

About the lecture: 
In Fides et ratio, philosophy is committed to serving the expansion of right reason, refuting claims against the possibility of enduring truth, and spelling out the spiritual dimension of being human. Each of these tasks requires a form of courage that deserves our close attention, because a good understanding of it may shed some light on the nature of being and thinking in the modern world.

About the Speaker: 
Professor Bloechl is the Associate Professor of Philosophy at Boston College and Honorary Professor at Australian Catholic University. He has taught in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, India, Italy and Lithuania. He specializes in philosophy of religion, Christian philosophy and contemporary European philosophy.

The Catholic Studies Program at Seton Hall University offers an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum for students of any creed who are interested in deepening their knowledge of Catholicism's rich intellectual tradition and living heritage. Combining the study of history, philosophy, theology, literature, art, sociology, and other disciplines, Catholic Studies focuses on the church's dialogue with culture and encounter with the world.
