Slavic Club’s "Durak" Night

DurakThursday, October 19th , 2023, at 6:30p .m., in Fahy 236, Slavic Club, will be holding an evening of food, fun, and relaxation, while playing the popular Russian card game, called "Durak."

Durak (Russian: дурак, a fool) is a traditional Russian card game that is very popular, not only in Russia, but also in many post-Soviet states.

DurakWith time, it has also become well known in other parts of the world. The objective of this game is to "shed all one’s cards" till there are no more cards left in the deck. At the end of the game, the last player with cards in his/her hands is the durak, or 'fool.'

It has appeared in Russia in the late 18th century. Durak by the mid-20th century has become, by far, the most popular Soviet card game.
