Celebrate World Philosophy Day with Faculty: Ask a Seton Hall Philosopher!

Photo of sculptures of philosophersThursday, November 15th is World Philosophy Day! The Philosophy Department will be hosting an Ask a Philosopher Table in the lobby of the University Center from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Stop by and ask our faculty members your most pressing philosophical questions, get information about studying philosophy, or try a thought experiment!

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) first introduced World Philosophy Day in 2002. In 2005, the UNESCO General Conference officially designated every third Thursday of November as World Philosophy Day.

A central aim of World Philosophy Day is to raise public awareness of the importance of philosophy and of its use in addressing and responding to the choices and challenges facing humanity today. People all over the world are encouraged to celebrate philosophy by engaging in philosophical thought, discussion, and debate.
