Seton Hall’s Summer Video Game Programming Course Lets High School Students Code and Create

If you have ever dreamed of designing your own video game, now is your chance. This summer, Seton Hall University is offering high school students an exciting Video Game Programming course as part of its Pre-College Summer Program. Whether you are an aspiring game developer, a coding enthusiast or just love playing games and want to learn what goes on behind the scenes, this course is the perfect way to get started.

Running from July 7 to July 17, 2025, on Seton Hall’s South Orange campus, this two-week immersive course will be led by Professor Marco T. Morazán Ph.D., who specializes in implementation of programming languages, functional programming and computer science education, and has published four books in 2022 and 2023, among other awards, presentations and service on dozens of academic and programming committees.

Classes span from Monday through Friday (July 7-11) and Monday through Thursday (July 14-17) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., giving students 27 hours of hands-on learning in the fundamentals of game development.

In this interactive, project-based course, students will dive into the world of video game programming, learning how to build their own digital creations from the ground up. From coding and game mechanics to problem-solving and design, this class will help students bring their ideas to life and explore the technology behind some of their favorite games.

No prior experience? No problem! This course is designed for students at all skill levels who want to explore game development and programming in a fun, engaging way. Plus, students can earn three college credits, making it a great addition to their academic portfolio.
