Program Learning Objectives:

  1. Language and Engagement: Actively engage in the national and global museum field, its organization, and subfields using research vocabulary and language related to inquiry and writing in the field.

  2. Systemic Knowledge: Demonstrate a holistic understanding of the social and structural issues that influence museums in the 21st century, including economic, ethical, legal, organizational, political, and professional forces.

  3. Inclusivity and Mission: Recognize and explain the DEAI-related issues that impact and reflect museums as they fulfill their missions.

  4. Strategic Analysis: Analyze the varied visitor engagement and/or collections stewardship focuses of museums.

  5. Ethics and Standards: Demonstrate an understanding of discipline-specific museum ethics, standards, and best practices as defined by the professional literature and relevant scholarship.

  6. Problem-Solving: Exhibit and apply the creative and strategic thinking to identify, analyze, and seek solutions to museum issues as applied to a range of case studies, contexts, theories, and phenomena.
