Center for Catholic Studies to Host Faculty Summer Seminar and Retreat
Wednesday, March 19, 2025
The Center for Catholic Studies at Seton Hall University invites faculty members to step away from their daily routines
and immerse themselves in two enriching summer programs designed to inspire, reflect
and innovate. Each taking place just after the craziness of the end of the spring
semester, these experiences allow faculty to reflect and connect with their colleagues
before the summer routine takes over.
The Faculty Summer Seminar, held from May 27-29, 2025, is an exciting opportunity to engage the Catholic Intellectual Tradition with all disciplines. Back for its 27th year, the 3-day Faculty Summer Seminar will welcome Jeffrey Morrow, Ph.D., professor of Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Morrow taught for 15 years at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology here at Seton Hall. He was also a beloved professor in the University Core, teaching both Core I and Core II courses regularly.
Morrow will offer his expertise in the field of Scripture and Biblical Studies to help our faculty come to a deeper understanding of how to both read and teach Scripture as well as give key reasons why our students will benefit from reading, understanding and studying Sacred Scripture during their time at Seton Hall.
The week following the seminar, the Faculty Summer Retreat runs from June 5-6, 2025 at San Alfonso Retreat Center in Long Branch, NJ, and offers a tranquil setting for faculty to engage in thoughtful discussions, personal reflection and professional renewal. In its 3rd year, the retreat will offer faculty time to reflect, pray and converse on themes from the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, relate them to their disciplines and connect with other members of the Seton Hall community.
With time for silence, prayer and reflection, paired with fruitful dialogue in a beautiful setting down the shore, faculty from all disciplines are encouraged to attend to deepen their appreciation for and understanding of the great educational tradition of which they are an invaluable part.
These events promise to provide ample opportunities for growth, connection and inspiration as Seton Hall’s faculty prepares for the upcoming academic year.
