B.S. Computer Science/M.S. Data Science and Engineering

Data shapes nearly every part of our world—from how hospitals improve patient care to how companies protect information and make smarter decisions. Today’s employers are looking for people who can not only build technology, but also turn data into meaningful insight.

Seton Hall University’s five-year (3+2) B.S. in Computer Science and M.S. in Data Science and Engineering program is designed with that need in mind. This accelerated pathway allows you to earn both your bachelor’s and master’s degrees in just five years, saving you time while preparing you for in-demand careers in technology and analytics.

Turn Knowledge into Impact
In this combined degree program, you’ll develop a strong foundation in computer science while gaining advanced skills in data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Just as important, you’ll learn how to apply these skills to real-world challenges.

Data scientists play a critical role in today’s organizations. They bring together technical expertise, business understanding, and communication skills to answer important questions and guide decision-making.

Students learn how to manage the entire “data life cycle” — from collecting and cleaning data to interpreting results and presenting them effectively. The skills gained in this combined computer science and data science degree can open doors across many fields, including healthcare, finance, cybersecurity, logistics and research.

Curriculum

The accelerated curriculum can be completed in five years to obtain the B.S. in Computer Science after four years and the M.S. in Data Science and Engineering within one additional year. Students take four graduate courses during the senior year. Subsequently, the students complete the requirements for the M.S. in Data Science and Engineering within one year. The accelerated program applies 12 graduate credits for undergraduate courses.
