Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology Advent Reflection Series

Join Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology for its 2026 Advent Reflection Series, an invitation to prepare for the celebration of Christ's birth through prayer, art and contemplation.

This year's theme, Welcoming the Incarnation with Hope: An Advent Visual Pilgrimage through the Cloisters, draws inspiration from sacred art housed at The Cloisters, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's museum dedicated to the art and architecture of medieval Europe, located in Fort Tryon Park in New York City.

Inspired by a recent visit to the museum, 19 writers selected works of art that spoke to them through their imagery, symbolism and connections to the Advent season. Each writer offers a personal reflection on a selected piece, exploring its spiritual meaning and its invitation to encounter the mystery of the Incarnation with renewed hope.

Beginning Sunday, November 29 and continuing through Christmas Day, the series will feature 27 reflections by 19 writers, offering a variety of perspectives on the beauty of sacred art and the meaning of Advent.

The visit to The Cloisters was part of the Seminary's October writing retreat and New York pilgrimage. Following their time at the museum, participants gathered for several days at San Alfonso Retreat Center for prayer, reflection and writing.
