African Resistance to Colonialism
Interim dean Ambassador Thomas Melady and Diplomacy Board of Overseers member Dr. Margaret Melady donated papers to the School and the Walsh Library Archive at Seton Hall University. The Meladys discussed the contents of their unique donation, which includes their personal correspondence with African leaders who ignited independence in Black Africa during the 1960s. They shared their experience of Africa, where Ambassador Melady was assigned as a U.S. Foreign Service officer.

The Year of Dialogue Among Civilizations was established to redefine diversity and to increase tolerance and understanding among the world’s peoples and cultures. To do this, governments, the United Nations system and other relevant international and non-governmental organizations were invited by the United Nations General Assembly to plan and implement cultural, educational and social programs to promote the concept of the dialogue among civilizations.
