Designed for graduates without a bachelor's degree in accounting, Seton Hall's 30-credit M.S. in Accounting (M.S.A.C.) program prepares you for a successful accounting career and meets the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam in New Jersey, New York, and most other states.

The Stillman School is the only school in Northern New Jersey with both business and accounting accreditation from the AACSB. The program prepares you for CPA, CMA, or CIA certifications, enhancing your marketability and career prospects.
We welcome both full and part-time students and our small and flexible classes to accommodate your schedule on our main campus in South Orange, NJ, which is only 14 miles away from New York City.

Admissions Requirements
Admission into the Stillman School of Business is selective. For consideration, applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. The School welcomes applicants from business and non-business undergraduate majors. Although all requests will be considered based on individual merit and each candidate will be evaluated holistically, an undergraduate overall GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) is generally required.

Applications are processed on a rolling basis. To be considered for competitive merit scholarships or Graduate Assistantship positions, applicants are encouraged to apply by the priority deadline for each semester.
Curriculum Overview
Completion of the M.S. in Accounting requires a minimum of 30 credits of approved coursework, composed of 21 credit hours of required courses and 9 credit hours of accounting or taxation electives.
Led by our dedicated, experienced faculty, you'll study financial accounting, auditing, taxation, and management accounting, thus satisfying the state's curriculum requirement.
You'll take accounting or taxation electives, choosing from specialized courses such as:
- Forensic Accounting
- Governmental and Not-for-Profit Accounting
- Tax Problems of Partners and Partnerships
You'll also find an emphasis on values; at Stillman, our mission is to enrich each student's life through an ethics-centered curriculum.
Full-time students can complete their coursework, on campus or online, in just 12 months; part-time students typically finish our program in two years.

What are the pre-qualification course requirements?
Prerequisite requirements may include two courses: BMBA 8008 that covers basic financial accounting as well as managerial accounting, and BMBA 8009 that serves as an introduction to business law. Students can be waived from these courses based on prior coursework and challenge exams are also available.
Students without a business background may be required to complete a sequence of prequalification courses that do not bear credit and can be completed more quickly online than traditional eight-week courses. Will this program help me sit for the CPA?
Yes. This program fulfills the educational requirements that undergraduate business graduates need to sit for the CPA exam in New York and New Jersey. To sit for the CPA Exam in New Jersey, applicants must have completed at least 24 credit hours in accounting and taxation and at least 24 credit hours in non-accounting, business courses. These requirements can be satisfied by any combination of undergraduate and graduate credits. Applicants from other states should become familiar with their state’s individual CPA Exam requirements at www.nasba.org.
What is the time and frequency of on-campus classes?
Classes are usually offered in the evenings with 6:30 pm start times and typically meet once or twice a week for 2.5-3.5 hours.
