Social Work
Social workers provide 60% of all mental health services, and Seton Hall University has one of the best social work programs in New Jersey. Learn from world-class academics, gain valuable hands-on experience and be a part of a competitive Social Work program that has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Gain Extensive Field Experience
All of our Social Work students graduate with a year and a half of internship experience
and connections to organizations such as the Department of Children and Families,
state senators, the Department of Human Services, hospitals, schools, non-profits
and community outreach organizations. There are also plenty of opportunities to participate
in research projects as early as freshman year, such as those focusing on drug addiction,
mental health disorders and public policy.
Seton Hall is a partner in the Baccalaureate Child Welfare Educational Program (BCWEP), which allows our students to intern with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P), receive tuition remission during their senior year and obtain a full-time job after graduation.
Extensive field experiences are the reason why many of our students receive job offers before graduation and why 100% of students who apply to graduate school are accepted. Many of our students have gone on to attend prestigious universities such as Columbia University, the University of Michigan, New York University and Rutgers.
Build Solid Credentials
You can obtain an Interdisciplinary Certificate in Gerontology or a Certificate in
Social Work Policy and Justice. Social work majors can also pursue second majors or
minors in psychology, criminal justice and other allied fields.
Seton Hall Social Work students can earn an undergraduate social work degree at Seton Hall and a graduate social work degree (MSW) from any accredited program in just five years through advanced standing status, which allows students to apply their final year of undergraduate study toward a master's degree.
