Catholic Theology

Imagine a program that helps you to "think big" and discover your purpose in life as you become rich as a person! At Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, we are happy to accompany you on a transformative journey as you learn more about Jesus Christ, the Catholic Church, and your God-given talents and mission.

With the B.A. in Catholic Theology from Seton Hall, you will gain a solid foundation to "open your heart" and prepare for a life of service to the Church and to society in fields such as medicine, law and education or through a vocation to the priesthood and religious life. Experience an education rooted in the teaching mission of the Catholic Church, guided by professors who possess the mandate to teach from the Archbishop of Newark.

Kristen Gawlik

"As I prepare to begin a new job teaching high school theology, I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to study Catholic Theology. I feel well equipped to step into the classroom and pass on all that I learned. These studies were not only intellectually challenging, but more importantly, they gave me a deeper awareness of God’s love and mercy at work in me and through me."

Curriculum

Since Catholicism is a living tradition, our program stretches well beyond the University's walls. We offer concrete opportunities to understand and experience the Catholic faith firsthand.

Students choose from two program options:

  • Option 1 explores the interaction between faith and reason that is at the root of Catholic thought. It follows the academic requirements of the Program of Priestly Formation (Sixth Edition, 2022).

  • Option 2 focuses on a concentration of your choice within the field of theology: Systematic Theology, Sacred Scripture, Moral Theology or Spiritual Theology.
