The Conscious Seed of Light Album PreviewDate: August 7, 2015
Reading, PA's tech-death masters are back, with another mammoth effort, as Rivers of Nihil's sophomore album is releasing on Friday, August 21st on Metal Blade Records. Flying high off the 2013 release "The Conscious Seed of Light" the band picked up a lot of momentum, going on tours with band such as DevilDriver, Whitechapel, Death and much more.
The band continues their seasonal theme in this release, as Monarchy talks about the oppressive heat of the summer, but it takes place thousands of years after the debut. The bands explains, "The Earth has been transformed into a vast desert wasteland, where after aeons of lifelessness, new beings begin to take shape and begin their journey as shepherds of the planet. But after a while, a class system forms from a sun-worshiping religious dictatorship, and these beings start to lose their way. Only the guidance of an ancient earthly force can help them save themselves as well the planet."
The band did not only continue with the theme, the music progressed so much more as well. The band was quoted as saying that this was the first time they focused on writing songs, instead of just writing riffs and piecing it together and it definitely shows. The band released the first single off the album "Perpetual Growth Machine" and shortly followed it with the title track "Monarchy" , both of which they played at their set at the New England Metal Festival. (You can catch the interview I did with them at the Metal Fest, here!)
The rest of the album follows the same path, sheer brutality coupled with technical guitars, progressive drums and some of the best bass you will ever hear in metal. Go to your local record store and check out "Monarchy" by Rivers of Nihil, releasing on Metal Blade Records on 8/21.
