The Seton Hall Pirates (8-4) lost their first conference matchup vs DePaul 89-66 on the road.

Much of the Pirates' struggles came in the first half. On the offensive side, the Pirates allowed the Blue Demons to score 21 points off 10 turnovers in the game's first 20 minutes. Donnaizha Fountain led all Pirates with 10 points in the first half, while shooting 2-for-3 from three.

The Pirates, who typically are strong defensively, had some troubles on that end of the floor. Seton Hall allowed the Blue Demons to score 48 points in the first half, the first time an opponent has scored that many in the first half against the Pirates all season. Seton Hall allowed DePaul to hit 11-for-24 from behind the arc, along with hitting 16-for-36 from the field goal in the first half.

In the second half, the Pirates' offense emerged. Sophomore Deja Winters had all 16 of her points in the second half. The sophomore hit 5-for-8 from behind the arc along with going 1-for-2 from the free throw line. Only four Pirates scored in the second half, as Fountain put up 13 second half points to finish with 23 points for the game. Kimi Evans and Nicole Jimenez each had four points in the second half as well for the Pirates. JaQuan Jackson, who had a season-high 28 points vs Fairfield, only had six points on the night, all in the first half. The Pirates bench, however, accounted for 33 of the team's 66 points.

Turnovers again hurt the Pirates as they committed 20 turnovers, the third most this season for the Pirates. The Blue Demons were able to turn those turnovers into 27 points.

DePaul's Kelly Campbell couldn't be stopped as the sophomore recorded her first career triple-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.

The Pirates are now 0-1 in Big East play and 8-4 on the season. They will head to Milwaukee on Saturday, December 30 to take on the Marquette Golden Eagles. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. You can listen to all the action on 89.5FM, wsou.net, or on the iHeartRadioApp.
