A Great Big Pile of Leaves: Performance at Seton Hall University

Date: September 13, 2015

Wednesday, September 2th, was a humid evening, on the campus of Seton Hall University. Most people avoid being outside in that weather, but around 7:00 PM people started appearing from around campus and came to the green. These students carried blankets, or took some conveniently provided by the school’s activity board. They then chose their spots scattered across the grass. They patiently awaited the event to take place. They awaited the first Concert on the Green of the school year; and this one was a Campus Buzz band.

A Great Big Pile of Leaves, an Indie-rock band from Brooklyn, stopped by to rock the campus of Seton Hall. Being an indie band, I can’t say compare their performance to the metal music that traditionally plays on WSOU. However, A Great Big Pile of Leaves is a perfect example of the music we play for Campus Buzz. They were a bit awkward on stage at times, but honestly it only added to the charm of the evening. The only example of their awkward behavior was when they dedicated a song to going back to school, and the song was called Back to School (Off their 2013 Album You’re Always on My Mind). As the show continued, people heard the music play and more students flocked the green to enjoy the performance. Overall, I would have to guess that there were around 300 people on the lawn that night. Every student at one point or another pulled out their phone and took a picture for Instagram or Snapchat. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The vast majority of people who arrived for the show stuck around, and that was a very good sing that the audience enjoyed the show, and the music. They only played for an hour that evening, but it was an amazing show. There were plenty of requests for one more song at the end, but sadly it had to come to an end. It was a great night and a great performance by A Great Big Pile of Leaves.
As always check Campus Buzz out on Sunday Nights from 8-11pm.
